India’s Agriculture sector employs around 50% of the country’s workforce, but contributes to only 18% of the Gross Domestic Product. The visible gaps in the sector demand an urgent redressal through cutting edge AgriTech innovations. The BIRAC-SPARSH program aims at promoting entrepreneurship in the AgriTech space as an attractive and viable career option while addressing the lack of innovation and technology. Over 100 applications were received for the program,which is designed to provide 5 Fellows a kick start grant of Rs 5 Lakhs each and a monthly fellowship of Rs 50,000 for the next 18 months.
